Largest Park?
[edit]I just corrected the first paragraph to "largest historical village", which is what the source says. Fort Edmonton Park is actually the "largest historical park" in Canada, being some 92 acres larger than Heritage Park.--RAult (talk) 04:02, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
The claims of both sites to being the "largest in Canada" are dubious. King's Landing Historical Village in New Brunswick is 300 acres ( http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history-archaeology/loyalties.html?c=y&page=4 ), which is larger than the newly-expanded Heritage Park (127 acres) or Fort Edmonton Park. I don't know how to measure "largest village" as opposed to "largest park", and without a unit of measurement, that is a meaningless claim. --Country Wife (talk) 13:05, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Historical accuracy
[edit]Historical accuracy in living history sites is not an absolute; it can be good or bad. Therefore, phrases like "true to the time", which suggests a high level of historical accuracy, should be avoided. Would making such claims count as original resarch? --Country Wife (talk) 13:23, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
No Hudson's Bay Company fort ever existed in Calgary
[edit]It is true that no HBC fur post (or fur post from any other fur company, such as the North West Company or XY Company) was ever in the immediate Calgary area. However, I'm not sure why this point is stressed when other similar points are not. For example, the SS Moyie paddlewheeler is a popular exhibit, but not only did no paddlewheeler ever steam on Calgary rivers, but the lake itself didn't exist until 1932. And the original SS Moyie was in BC, not in Alberta.--Country Wife (talk) 13:40, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
History
[edit]Could we include data/detail(s) about the history of the park such as when (certain) buildings were built.Curb Chain (talk) 01:09, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
