Is a this a song about suicide?
[edit]Just listening to thisagain, and trying to !and sense of the spare lyrics. TDCornwell (talk) 15:10, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
- That sounds like a rather literal read of the title/refrain. I've never gotten a suicidal vibe from this song. A woman feels alienated from society and deals with it by acting like a goody two shoes, to the annoyance of others; but she's hiding her more complicated side. She remembers a past relationship with a mixture of regret, shame and fondness, a relationship that apparently ended when she said the wrong thing on purpose. She tries to shrug it off ("I cynically say the world is that way, Surprise") but doesn't sound convincing. I imagine her as a young woman and this may have been her first time. And that's the end of her little reveal. Cheers. TheBawbb (talk) 15:43, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
