Weaknesses

I removed the weaknesses section which was limited to "If he were in space with out a helmet he could die." Put it back if you like, but it struck me as just a little trivial. By similar logic, my weaknesses include bullets, drowning, and falls from great heights, but I wouldn't really consider them unique, defining characteristics. -AS

Main Image

What is the issue with having a header? Many of the other characters' entries use a comic book cover, with title included.

Hercules is in reality a Greek god

You wrote that Hercules of Marvel is based on the 'Roman demi-god Hercules' but Hercules is actually a Greek demi-god (that was later adopted by Romans).

In your page for the demi-god Hercules (Herakles in Greek) you write:

Hercules is the Latin name used in Rome for a hero corresponding to the Greek mythological hero Heracles (or Herakles), the Roman name being a metathesis of the Greek name.

Therefore I believe that there is a conflit between these two pages...

I didn't write that but you are correct. I'll change it.

Lifting power

A contributor noted, "Thor lifts a pillar described as weighing a million tons with little effort. Ergo, Hercules, who fought Thor to a total stalemate, would also be able to do the same. Both should logically then by able to lift in excess of one million with greater effort." That's opinion. No matter how obvious it seems, such extrapolation is not good enough for encyclopedic entry. Lifting strength does not equal fighting power. Thor has other abilities, esp. Mjolnir-powered flight, that can boost lift. Furthermore, Herc has gone through some power changes since then. First issue

It is said that Hercules first appeared at Avengers #10. That's a mistake. Yes, there was an Hercules in there indeed, but that wasn't "this" Hercules. As it was revealed at the Avengers Forever story, that was really a Space Phantom. The true Hercules first appeared at the Thor comic, and later joined the Avengers for a year. --Perón 16:56, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Which is why the explanation is in the text, so someone who hasn't read Avengers Forever doesn't go "Huh?"

Right. And even though canonically that's not Hercules any more, for decades it was. Even if it was someone in disguise, it still introduced the readers to Hercules because it showed how he looks, speaks, and acts in the Marvel Universe. It introduced his character. Hmmm...I've seen the discussion and it's not a very strong case. The term is also clumsy. Perhaps something tighter like "Origin and Biography", or "Origin and History". Sounds much snappier.

The argument isn't the point. It's what the project exemplar page says to use. Wikipedia Manual of Style says to stress that it's fiction. Contributors who want to argue for a snappier section title need to take it up at a higher level. Doczilla 05:20, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Erasing Images

Whoever keeps on erasing the images can stop that right now and put it back. and may someone please fix up those two pictures. And keeps on erasing those pictures may you please stop because it would be nice to hace more pictures in the article and make it look more like an article.

Confession to Amadeus

Hercules reveals to Amadeus after the Hydra Blood incident that he had not, in fact, been possessed by Hera to kill his family, (like the mythological one had) but had done so out of rage; and later blamed Hera. I have no idea how to incorporate this into the article.

Hercules Evolved

The time when Hercules confronted the High Evolutionary and both evolved into high cosmic beings (and Hercules merged with space itself) should be noted...I just have no clue when exactly it happened in relation to the rest of his misadventures.

God

Hercules is a god but it sais he is a demigod. Thats not true. Hercules was born a denigod but he was made into a god. If he was still a demigod he wouldn't be allowed to attend the Olympian Council. And if he was a Demigod he would have died a long time age because demigods live as long as normal mortals. So I changed it.

Hercules and Amazons

The bits about how Hercules relates to Amazons, in Marvel and D.C. mode, seem to be crammed full of original research. Lots42 (talk) 04:25, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Reception

Currently reception only consists of only a single source ranking Hercules in a list.
