Health Concerns

[edit]

The warning from Health Canada states that they don't recommend herbal cigarettes as a long term alternative to tobacco use due to the dangers of inhaling smoke of any kind, but it doesn't state what those dangers are. Therefore, I removed the part of the paragraph that states that users of herbal cigarettes still risk lung cancer and heart disease, as the supplied link does not support that statement. 99.192.7.90 (talk) 12:14, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

While herbal cigarettes may not include tobacco and thus nicotine, the burning process however still produces tar and possibly other substances, which are inhaled and which thus represent a considerable health risk. lmaxmai (talk) 19:06, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I added a reference to the Health Canada page on herbal cigarettes to the first paragraph, under safety. Skalchemist (talk) 18:17, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why was it removed, it does not seem to be present anymore. lmaxmai (talk) 19:06, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Health Benefits

[edit]

The claim that the benefits of smoking herbal cigarettes may outweigh the harms really need something to back them up. The specific claim for mullein (even with the word "may") seems particularly unfounded. I did a quick search but found nothing to really support this. I put a "citation needed" tag there for now, in case someone else knows what the support for this claim is. Skalchemist (talk) 18:10, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Usage in Film Industry

[edit]

Why is there no mention of actors smoking herbal cigarettes in motion pictures with scripts calling for "smoking scenes"? It was my understanding that actors are prohibited by law from smoking tobacco in their workplaces, and thus any cigarettes seen being smoked on the Silver Screen are actually herbals. Is this correct? -Grammaticus Repairo (talk) 23:21, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brands

[edit]

There's no indication in the article as to which country the brands originate from. Clarification would be nice. 94.192.52.244 (talk) 19:36, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious claim of a 1990s invention removed

[edit]

There was a sentence claiming that filtered herbal cigarettes were invented in 1990, and referenced BBC article. It looks like the sentence was dropped in after the first lines describing what herbal cigarettes are which is referenced in the BBC article. 20s of Googling finds an article from 1976 talking about herbal cigarettes, although it is not clear that they have filters http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=a_BVAAAAIBAJ&sjid=R-EDAAAAIBAJ&dq=herbal%20cigarettes&pg=3715%2C749677 I doubt that adding a filter to a herbal cigarette in 1990 would qualify as 'novel' or 'inventive'. Neutrality

[edit]

"Many prop masters use and trust Honeyrose Herbal Cigarettes as their #1 choice for use in creative movie smoking scenes that involve actors and crew members" reads as an advertisement and should be removed. 37.160.68.54 (talk) 14:03, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Cigarette Ad for Honeyrose

Cigarette Ad in the article

[edit]

The user "HerbalCigarettesQuitSmoking" has undone the previous edit by user Khkronen and reinstated their unequivocal brand advertisement in the article's opening paragraph. I'm no Wikipedia expert, but I don't believe putting citations to the company's own website makes it any less of an advertisement. Can someone who knows how to handle this sort of thing please handle it. Ibexe31 (talk) 08:05, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted the edit and blocked the user for blatant promotion. RickinBaltimore (talk) 17:20, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
