Quasi-portrayal in "Lincoln (2012)"
[edit]So one of the radical house member characters in Lincoln is "Asa Vintner Litton," a radical lame duck congressman from Maryland. There was of course no "Asa Vintner Litton," but it seems like he's probably based on Davis, in that his biography and role are basically the same. I assume they probably changed his name so as not to confuse people with a character named "Davis" who is not Jefferson Davis. I am going to look for sources that discuss this. john k (talk) 14:32, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
Okay, a few links:
- a blog post by Matthew Pinsker, a historian of the civil war at Dickinson
- an article in The Atlantic by Benjamin Schmidt, a historian at Northeastern
Would this be sufficient basis to add a "portrayal" section to this article? john k (talk) 14:36, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
