Place of birth
[edit]His place of birth seems to be uncertain. Appleton's Cyclopedia of American Biography [http://www.famousamericans.net/sirhenrytrollope/] gives Norwich, but DANFS [1] gives Bucklebury in Berkshire. Gdr 20:46, 2005 Jun 13 (UTC)
- His biography from Oxford University Press by P.K. Crimmin lists Bucklebury in Berkshire as well. I say we add it, there's a majority here. =) Panzer V Panther 02:22, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Revolutionary War?
[edit]I'm almost certainly showing my ignorance here, but why would a naval officer have fought at Lexington and Bunker Hill? Stilgar135 03:48, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Sailors of the time often fought engagements on land; warfare was simpler and the branches of the military less specialized. In the Napoleonic Wars the Royal Navy carried out many amphibious operations with a mixture of regular troops, marines, and sailors. Gdr 2005-06-28 12:24:26 (UTC)
- There's an article from Oxford University Press written on him that says he was commanding boats that landed troops. Panzer V Panther 20:28, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
