Our family has always been concerned that so little information was available about Colonel Harry James Wilson, 1st Battalion of the London Scottish, except for that contained in the Regimental History. Having myself been named John Wilson Runcie jnr, Runcie being the family name and Wilson my grandmothers maiden name. The Wilson name is still being carried on today by my youngest grandchild, Andrew Trevor Wilson Runcie. The Wilson Family originally came from Macduff. In 1945 Colonel Harry Wilson took up an appointment at the War Office in the Department of the Adjutant- General as an Assistant Director of Army Welfare Services. Our family believe that on this appointment he was made up to Brigadier, but we have no record to verify this. I have created this Wiki page in the hope that someone may have information about this appointment, of course the appointment may not have been substantive.
