The research and items for Henry Burr are excellent and as far as I can determine, above reproach. I do, however, take umbrage with the misspelling of the name of the city "Saint John" (New Brunswick, Canada). The city is incorporated as one of Canada's oldest cities and is not abbreviated to St. John. The name of the city is "Saint John" always and that is one way to easily identify it from the also well known St. Johns, which is located in Newfoundland, Canada. |

Year of birth
[edit]Hello,
I'm currently translating in french this article and according to the Library and Archives Canada, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Canadian Encyclopedia, the Bibliothèque nationale de France or the VIAF, Burr was born in 1885. But according to the Library of Congress, this old version of Songwriters Hall of Fame or this article from the NY Times, Burr was born in 1882. So, I don't know which one are true ?
Greetings from France, --TaupeGun (talk) 17:49, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
- The correct answer is 15 January 1882, as shown in this article and in the 1901 Canada census, which gives the date precisely (here, but subscription-only). The same 1882 date is given on his death record in Illinois, and on his First World War registration card - and at Findagrave here, and on the fan site here. The 1891 census similarly has him aged 9,. So, I don't know where 1885 came from, but all the evidence is that it is wrong. Ghmyrtle (talk) 18:38, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Ghmyrtle: Thank you for this clear-cut answer ! Maybe should we contact Library and Archives Canada one day ? Anyway, I'll mention it on the french article. --TaupeGun (talk) 19:36, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
