I removed the stub tag for two reasons. A) I don't think my article is a stub because it displays biographical information which covers every age of the subject's life. B) If we are to concede that it still is a stub, it's not a Sri Lankan related stub because the only relation the subject has to Sri Lanka is the fact that the subject was born there. If anything it would be a Buddhism stub because the subject is a major Buddhist monastic figure. So if someone insists on it being a stub, you ought to make it a Buddhism stub, not anything else.Theli 93

I agree about the stub issue. It seemed odd to call it a Sri Lanka stub. Thanks for doing this page. I am a monk at his monastery and have felt unsure about making changes because of my close relationship with the subject of the article (Bhante G). BKh

US-centric terminology

[edit]

"He had only a fourth grade education..."

Fourth Grade might have a particular significance in the US of A but it isn't standard terminology. Perhaps someone could translate it to non-US-specific language? Unfortunately, as it stands, it reinforces the view that the majority of the world is regarded as almost incidental except inasmuch as it relates to the US of A, which is hardly satisfactory for a site with aspirations to be viewed as an encyclopaedia. 2A01:4C8:1522:78EF:1:1:CA46:31A7 (talk) 15:20, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The current link in the infobox currently leads to a page that reads "This page doesn't seem to exist.": [1]http://www.bhavanasociety.org/teachers/bg

Using wayback machine it seems to have previously linked to a biography about Bhante: https://web.archive.org/web/20210413124259/https://bhavanasociety.org/teachers/bg

For now this link will be removed, unless we want to just use the home page for this website instead. I don't think it's appropriate though, as it's not his personal home page, but the home page of his Buddhist monastery that he founded. HopefulLuck (talk) 21:45, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
