How about a "See also" list of Noteworthy Residents and Natives of Hendersonville? Martin Gardner (the science writer) lives here, as did once a controversial televangelist... Dr.Bastedo (talk) 05:05, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
LMAO @ "up fivefold in one century" because the population is now 10K —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.16.79.162 (talk) 01:55, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
What is the point of a section on the tax collector? That is hardly of interest to folks wanting to learn more about Hendersonville. It's just a nasty local-minded political comment about taxes.
- Indeed, this fact is totally unnotable. The rate of tax collection is not even the highest of any county... merely "one of the highest". I am sure there are lots of hard working people in Hendersonville, not just the tax collector and his "team". --Wikismile (talk) 21:55, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
The tax collector point is of interest without a doubt. It reflects the history of how the county has operated and how it is operated today. He is no longer elected by the people.
The amount of tax dollars colleted is higher than ever and it brings a speculative point "can the population sustain the rates for the county ". There is no "renewable income" in the county to seak of.
The county has a new mulit-million dollar court house and did not allot any money for computers when it was being built. They restored the old court house. The county has a new jail. They tore down the old jail. The county has a new huge social services building for soical servies and the health department. This building is so large that the utility poles had to be changed to steel and re-routed. The recreational department owns and maintains a lot of property for this small town and is adding all the time. The sherff department employes it's own attorney however the district attorney does not have any investigative staff. The county has a lot of empty buildings and schools. A small amount goes to the volunteer fireman who do a fantasitc job. The county has part ownership in the hospital mental health services, etc., so the tax base is high for a town of this size. The avenues are in need of work and the town is dark in areas it should not be and it does not have sidewalks (that the county built) on streets that actually need them.
Likewise, why the commentary on illegal immigrants? The two positions stated tend to oversimplify a complex issue. How is this relevant to the world at large? Hipstar 04:24, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Hendersonville has had it's abundance of illegal immigrants up until the county started a new program.
Main Street Comments
[edit]Comments on main street are varied. This street has cost the tax payers of the city a lot of money. Signals first, then a crooked street and kept the old signals, then four way stops and the signals were tore down and the sidewalks dug up and things moved to accomidate for walking. Now new signals and the stop signs are gone.
Cleanup
[edit]Hendersonville should have its sections renamed in compliance with WP:USCITY.- Gilliam (talk) 23:51, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
