[edit]This page should not be speedily deleted because... (your reason here) --Mdscottis (talk) 03:14, 30 September 2012 (UTC) First, it's not simply about football helmets. It's really about opposing philosophies and the NCAA's stand on the matter. It also includes ice hockey helmets. Here, at UND, we actually have had more potentially catastrophic ice hockey injuries to head and neck, than football. Second, the opposing philophosy of emergency services and athletic trainers is real and can become quite bothersome particularly in a high stakes, emergent situation. Those points are not made in the football helmet argument. I could, I suppose, just add a section to the football helmet article, but it doesn't seem particularly germane to it, as that article seems to be largely historical, apart from the part on research grants and development. I did initially enter it as a heading in 'Concussion', but when I re-read Concussion, my addition seemed to have made the original article unwieldy, so I published it as a separate article and simply added a 'see also' in Concussion. I hope this helps and your advice is welcomed.
Lead
[edit]The lead section of this article does not give the reader the thinnest idea of what "helmet removal" actually refers to, and its overall style does not even resemble that of a Wikipedia article. I think it's in serious need of editing. MammonI.Dumah (talk) 12:38, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
