Nikki's Name on the Article
[edit]Okay, you wanna play that way? I'll bite for ya. Nicole Hanna goes by Nikki inside and OUTSIDE of the show, her social media in the very same source lists herself as Nikki, the show has her name as Nikki, and GoldDerby and any other source that say otherwise are correct, but literally every single Hell's Kitchen article has the chef's first and last name's on their listings and has their nicknames, middle names, etc. there as well. FURTHERMORE, their Nicknames are listed in the elimination box as well. Why you feel the need to be a smartass about the entire thing is beyond me, but you're removing information that could not be more crystal clear. Aardwolf68 (talk) 02:38, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Magitroopa: - It is true. Just a reminder that Wikipedia is open and free to be edited by anybody, and nobody "owns" anything, especially the articles. Other people are allowed to edit without going through your approval first. No need to undo everything. Zacatero (talk) 14:35, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- This is the exact reason that Wikipedia uses sources in the first place- so that the information can be checked/verified. Whether it's something as small as a nickname, it should still be listed in the source to be included.
- As you said in your most recent edit, "The source, at this point, can be the show itself instead of just some random article." - This is not 'some random article', but is a source serving to help provide the information for the table. Gold Derby definitely passes WP:RS.
- While unverified (as in, accounts without the blue checkmarks) social media accounts are usually disallowed/WP:NOTRS, I believe an exception could be made here, since the GD article does give their social media accounts. With that in mind, this seems to be fine to use.
- Finally, while yes, I well know Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, guidelines still do need to be followed. It's as simple as that. Don't edit war simply because you believe you are correct and actually discuss the issue. You've already been warned regarding that once, Zacatero. Magitroopa (talk) 15:05, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- You do realize that you are also participating in an edit war for the same reason lol, it's not a one way thing. Also the fact that you already had that source but undid several edits adding it is a little troubling. You know you can just add the source and be done with it, you don't need to draw everything out like this. You had the source for Nikki, just add it next time. No need to be all protective of something that you do not own. This is not your article. This is everybody's article. Zacatero (talk) 16:05, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- Perhaps I can be of assistance . . . Nikki is my daughter. I named her Nicole, so someday, if she wanted a more traditional "grown-up", name, she could use it, but I always referred to her as Nikki. Nicole is her legal name, that's true. That said, she has been called Nikki since she was a baby. She used it in school, with her friends, at work, and identifies herself as Nikki in all that she is. Declan Horgan.
[edit]Declan Horgan, although he currently lives in Washington, D.C., he is originally from Dublin, Republic of Ireland. - (124.197.55.28 (talk) 04:41, 3 December 2020 (UTC))
- Whether true or not, it is not in the source listed. Please provide a source for this. Magitroopa (talk) 15:05, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
Declan has his own website here; [1], which clearly mentions that he is Irish. - (124.197.55.28 (talk) 17:54, 3 December 2020 (UTC))
Should Team Names be Capitalized or Not?
[edit]In the episodes section of this article, I am still a little confused on why team names are capitalized sometimes, but not all of the time. If I recall correctly, no other Hell's Kitchen season article capitalizes team names, thereby making the writing style of this article out of uniform compared to the other articles. Not sure if whether the team names being official names should factor into the reason why they are capitalized, but if we were to be consistent on writing team names for all Hell's Kitchen articles, we should make a decision on whether to make all of them capitalized or not. Since I am not too well versed into most of Wikipedia's guides, a link to the appropriate guide(s) related to this situation would help. Pinging @Makro for discussion (reverted my edit by capitalizing some team names again) but leaving this on the talk page if anyone has different thoughts about this. Thissecretperson (talk) 21:41, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Thissecretperson The team names should be considered as proper nouns and not regular nouns. The name doesn't describe the color of the team it is the team name. Makro (talk) 21:49, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Makro I appreciate your thoughts on this situation. Does that the team names throughout Hell's Kitchen are canon names in the entire show, making them proper nouns that therefore should be capitalized? It seems as if the names being canon should be sourced, so as not to confuse readers into thinking they are not official names. If that's the case, then shouldn't the rest of the Hell's Kitchen season articles reflect the same thing, too? I'll be happy to change them on the other articles on a later time. Thissecretperson (talk) 21:56, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Thissecretperson Yes, the team names throughout should be capitalized on all seasons. If you don't mind changing them that would be helpful for readers to understand when reading and for future editors to follow when creating the next.Makro (talk) 09:33, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Makro Apologies for the late reply; I waited to see if anyone objected to what you said about the team names. However, I have also been pondering this; has any reliable source said anything about whether the team names are proper nouns? I have yet to find one that affirms what you said about the team names - that the "name [of both teams] doesn't describe the color of the team, it is the team name." Without any affirmation, it would be best to leave the team names as lowercase, with any reliable source citing the team names as such.
- Just wanting to make sure before I go through with the changes. Thissecretperson (talk) 16:10, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
Elliot’s Elimination
[edit]If you plan on undoing my Elliot revision, please don’t. Elliot did not leave the show. He was clearly eliminated. He is not a Simone from Season 12 case, in which she said “it’s okay chef, I can go.” Him saying that he is not a better chef is not the same as saying that it’s okay for him to leave. Hell's Kitchen Season 19 Episodes
[edit]Well I think that the all the Season 19 episodes of Hell's Kitchen: Las Vegas could use a little bit of work. Would do you think Magitroopa and Makro? DarkWariior (talk) 22:19, 1 January 2021 (UTC) DarkWariior
Titles
[edit]If they're not on Futon yet, you can check FOXFLASH. They usually go there way before Futon. CartoonnewsCP (talk) 06:13, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- Again, they show up on Foxflash way before Futon. CartoonnewsCP (talk) 16:28, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- We go by the sources listed. Episode title is currently not listed on The Futon Critic, which is the source being used in the table header. Magitroopa (talk) 16:29, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- They'll show up on Futon eventually, which is why it doesn't matter when it is added. Sometimes they show on Futon before, and after, but nonetheless those are the correct titles. CartoonnewsCP (talk) 16:30, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- We go by the sources listed. Episode title is currently not listed on The Futon Critic, which is the source being used in the table header. Magitroopa (talk) 16:29, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
Winner announced?
[edit]how are the winners announced when episode 5 just aired on Feb 4th? 2604:CA00:1DB:34F4:0:0:C60:3C05 (talk) 00:35, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- Because the season already aired in the UK. We (in America) had the season premiere in January 2021, while it premiered in the UK in October. Magitroopa (talk) 00:57, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
Did Elliott technically quit?
[edit]I propose the idea that Elliott left the show instead of being eliminated. His admittance of being an inferior chef to Drew pretty much was him throwing his hands up in the air and saying, "this is all I can do, I can't do any better, if you don't like it, I'll go home", and in my book, that's quitting. He HAD to have known in that moment that he was about to go home, and likely just got it over with. 2601:182:B00:5050:10B1:E55C:12CE:A342 (talk) 05:24, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
