Helix High School established date
[edit]Helix High School was established in 1951 although the buildings were not completed until 1952. The students of the first graduating class of 1952 continued to use the Grossmont High School campus with the classes scheduled in the afternoon while Grossmont students attended class in the morning. There was a full staff of teachers, officers, principal, and other necessary staff. This first class voted on the school colors, name Highlanders, songs, cheers, newspaper name and year book name. The class of 1952 continues to have a yearly reunion with the Grossmont class of 1952.4.248.4.252 05:38, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
What about that rivalry section? I am from a family very active in guhsd sports and I can definitely say nobody in that area knows about "The Musket" maybe recently...but traditionally? The Helix football versus Monte Vista game was the game to be at. The year monte vista beat the bush/smith team in regular season only to be killed in the playoffs pretty much solidified that...even going back to the wiley years--their "biggest" rival may be grossmont now, but i would say its highly debatable and probably does not belong up on the page...especially because the majority of the students on the football team weren't coming from schools in la mesa, but rather schools in the valley. Look at Bush, he wasn't from la mesa, he was from the valley. This is all crazy talk. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.10.31.66 (talk) 21:25, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I don't know about these days, but definately during the 1950's and 1960's, the HHS/GHS rivalry was the big one. Look at the history, Helix split out of Grossmont essentially and for several years they were the only 2 schools in the district. The other big rivalry during the 60's was with Mt. Miguel for the claymore. Perhaps shifting fortunes have lessened these rivalries while elevating others: there was no rivalry with Monte Viste during the early 60s, as they did not stand a chance against HHS at that time. Diplomas
[edit]How do I get a duplicate copy of my diploma in 1972?
School Name
[edit]The school has become a charter school. It's official name should be Helix Charter High School. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.7.253.10 (talk) 08:13, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Why is someone erasing this name from the Helix alumni list I just put up? Morphya6 (talk) 04:32, 24 June 2016 (UTC)
- Because there is no information in his bio about him attending this school and you have provided no sources to verify his attendance here. That's required. John from Idegon (talk) 15:22, 24 June 2016 (UTC)
Source: The Ottawa Journal Friday 25 October 1968, page 38 "graduating from Helix High School in La Mesa..." See also: Encyclopedia.com on Gary Pucket and the Union Gap "attended Helix High in La Mesa" Can you help me, an inept computer soul, in putting this in? This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
- I could not find an article on encyclopedia.com on GP&TUG. Could you provide a link. Old issues of the Ottawa Journal are available on Newspapers.com, which many people around here have a subscription to. John from Idegon (talk) 23:55, 24 June 2016 (UTC)
- It seems it may be best until there is an actual noticeably available link so it can be confirmed as a usable source. SwisterTwister talk 07:25, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
- I was looking for someone with a newspapers.com subscription. That's why I put up the help template. If you know a better way, please advise. John from Idegon (talk) 16:20, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
- @John from Idegon: I recommend taking a look around The Wikipedia Library page. They are probably going to be able to help you more. The {{help}} template is just a general request for any editor and doesn't really work well when you are looking for specific things. --Majora (talk) 18:26, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Just looking to help Mophya6, whom if he desires, can take it from here. John from Idegon (talk) 20:22, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
