Operating system

[edit]

What about the OS for this thing? Does it run Linux or Symbian etc? Forlornity 15:05, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Forlornity: The OS (kernel/hardware interface, memory management, etc) is Pantech's OEM platform. The WIPI-Java runtime environment is indeed provided by XCE. If anyone can think of a clear way to introduce this into the article (and maybe find a non-forum reference) please do so! Article is bias

[edit]

This article is a little bias. My ocean has never crashed or locked up on me. The notion that this is expected to happen on a "daily basis" is insanity.--24.15.235.157 (talk) 19:23, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried to clean up the section on "Ocean issues" now titled "Firmware issues" with clearer language to the firmware version that was a problem (for some) and the elimination of the "daily basis" language because it was unreferenced POV and unencyclopedic. Overall the article was pretty weak. That's not to say it's in an ideal state yet. Please, help edit, revise and get more information and references into this article! --Restecp 06:56, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

New edit/passage seems POV, editorial

[edit]

The following passage (currently under the criticisms section) seems POV (or at least Orginial Research, which should be cleaned up and supported with some references. Can others assess, clean up or remove? Thanks --Restecp 04:36, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Proposed Deletion

[edit]

shell, you're clearly not on a personal mission and need to get over yourself. move on. wikipedia policy does not support your opinion or edits. like i said. you're obviously personally involved and should forward these pages on to another admin with an objective point of view. that would be the professional thing to do. otherwise, feel free to find a specific point of interest in this article that isn't mentioned in the main one that should be moved and do it. i reviewed both and they are very consistent with each other

you aren't going to read it anyway but here is the blurb from helio's main page.

The Ocean is a dual-slider cell phone (manufactured by Pantech) [12], combining a traditional numeric keypad and a separate full QWERTY keyboard in a single handset. Designed primarily as a social networking tool [13], the Ocean merges instant messages, text messages, picture messages and email services from all of the major portals in one phone but none are integrated with each other. The Ocean also delivers MySpace Mobile on Helio with a new user interface, music downloads, video-on-demand, a 2 megapixel camera, an HTML browser, GPS-enabled Google Maps, Garmin Navigation, Buddy Beacon and supports Mail for Microsoft Exchange. The Helio Ocean comes with 200MB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot (expandable up to 2GB). The Ocean became publicly available on May 11, 2007. 76.213.229.6 (talk) 03:14, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As I've tried to explain before, proposed deletions are only for uncontested deletions. And again, you are welcome to take an article to WP:AFD if you feel it needs to be deleted, but please do not re-add the prod tag. Shell babelfish 03:36, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
it is uncontested as were the other successful deletes. i'll re-add it when i have more time to waste on you76.213.229.6 (talk) 03:50, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Uncontested means that no-one removes the proposed deletion notice in the five day period its required to run. I'm not sure what you mean by other sucessful deletes here, but that's really not relevant to the process you're using. (again, please read WP:PROD) I've gone ahead and opened the AfD to get more community input. Perhaps if you stopped treating this as if I was an adversary of some type, we could figure out a way to work out our disagreements on these issues. I've offered repeatedly to discuss facts and policy with you and all you want to talk about is edits from months ago. I've grown tired of trying to refocus you. at least its gotten you to start cleaning it up ;p76.213.229.6 (talk) 04:18, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
