Massive clean-up
[edit]Wow, this article was sloppily done. I brought it more in-line with the Manual of Style, and removed some really crappy "appearances" (mentioning the "making of"s for movies she was in? Give me a friggin' break). I also removed links that weren't about Helen Slater (the website for her brother is not about her). The fact that she attended the 14th annual Environmental Media Awards is hardly "trivia". I made all of her "body of work" items links, even though most of them are red.
All in all, the article is better, but it's still kinda crappy. EVula 19:52, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- I've consolidated some TV and stage stuff, but still need to do much more. I wonder if this article holds a record for use of the word "next". x 18:49, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed everything that was unsourced IAW the verifiability policy. Hopefully it can be built up from a sourced foundation, now. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 22:40, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
Worked with other actors more than once ?
[edit]I've removed this text:
As an actress, she has worked with several actors and actresses in more then one project including: Yeardley Smith (in The Legend of Billie Jean and City Slickers); Melanie Mayron (in Sticky Fingers and Toothless); Lea Thompson (in Caroline In The City and Jane Doe: The Harder They Fall); Bruno Kirby (in City Slickers and Heavenzapoppin); Jonathan Silverman (in 12:01 and the television pilot Couples); Lindsay Crouse, Jill Eikenberry, Ally Sheedy, and JoBeth Williams (in Chantilly Lace and Parallel Lives); Patricia Wettig (in City Slickers and Parallel Lives); Gena Rowlands (in Parallel Lives and Best Friends For Life); Julia Louis-Dreyfus (in Seinfeld and The New Adventures of Old Christine).
I'm not sure what value this really has. Most actors have worked with some other actors more than once, it doesn't really say much about them specifically; as presented it's just peripheral information, like their hat size or something. x 18:38, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

- Wow, I don't see anything about actual content there. Just a pile of bureaucracy. I don't see how it would improve this article per se. x 04:11, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Helen Slater as Supergirl.png
[edit]Image:Helen Slater as Supergirl.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:12, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Misinformation in bio
[edit][copied from http://en.wikinews.org/w/index.php?title=Wikinews:Water_cooler/miscellaneous&oldid=464588#Misinformation_in_bio by user:bawolff (not logged in at moment)]
Helen Slater has a bio on your site which is incorrect. I'm her mother and edited it but my edits were rejected. Helen's grandfather emigrated from Poland and changed his name at Ellis Island from Schlacter to Slater, at the suggestion of his sister Edith who preceded him to America. So Helen and her father both had the birth names Slater, not Schlachter as set forth in your article. Also, my maiden name was Alice Citrin, not Chrin as you have it in the article for Helen. You cite a celebrity source her erroneous name, but I have her birth certificate--she was born in Mid=Island Hospital in Bethpage New York on December 15, 1963. I was there so I really do know her right name. I was also married to her father Gerald Slater in `957, Let me know what other proof you need to make the correction Thanks.

- Helen Slater attended the Great Neck South school system before transfering to the school of performing arts. For at least a couple of years she worked as an "anchorwoman" on the morning news program broadcast throughout the school via CCTV. I was her cameraman for some of that time. If I had to guess I would say that she transferred to the school of performing arts in 1979 or 80. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.32.192.33 (talk • contribs) 19:47, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Comedy/Drama
[edit]Ruthless People, The Secret Of My Success and City Slickers were just "comedy" films not comedy-dramas. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.237.34.211 (talk) 14:48, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
I just updated Helen's bio at the top of the page, it was written by Helen herself, I'm her webmaster, please do not revert. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mgavaldon (talk • contribs) 02:56, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- You were clearly messing up the Infobox. Everyone has a right to revert that kind of activity. — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 03:06, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
I'm assuming the Info box is where her Bio is?? She asked me to update this for her, where do I add her bio? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mgavaldon (talk • contribs) 03:17, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
RE: The Flash
[edit]@Dynamic IP: Likenesses of celebrities have appeared in film and television since Looney Tunes/Merry Melodies. No reputable source lists such works in the respective actors filmographies. Unless you can cite a source that specifically says that Slater was involved in the production of The Flash it shouldn't be listed in her filmography. DonQuixote (talk) 04:29, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
