Series name incorrect
[edit]The name of this series, as listed on the Baen web site ( http://www.baen.com/series_list.asp#Dahak ), is the "Dahak Series", not "Heirs of Empire" which is the name of the third book. Oracleofbargth (talk) 16:51, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Plot summary error
[edit]In the Omnibus re-issue Emipre from the Ashes "Imperial Terra" the planetoid the Five youngsters were on had a crew of 80 thousand not the reported 20 thousand killed when it self destructeed in accordance with the terrorist programming. In addition it was 5 people Sean, Sandy, Harriet, Tamman, and Brashan. {according to references Pg 632 - pg 636 Empire from the Ashes} "The Imperial Terra departs on its maiden voyage, but partway through deliberately loses control of its core tap, as the dead programmer had instructed. However, Dahak had surreptitiously inserted a command with equal priority to the sabotage command which states that the lives of 2 certain midshipmen and their friends must be preserved. Imperial Terra reconciles these conflicting orders by first jettisoning the four aboard a well-stocked and capable (but not FTL-capable) battleship moderately near some uncharted systems and only then destroying itself and its crew of 20 thousand."
Similarities to other David Weber Novels
[edit]This has a very similar plot to Off Armageddon Reef (advanced technology society brings itself down to medieval levels, alien threat, semaphores, central church that judges technological progress and limits it to prevent technology from advancing too far, person from another world comes and helps a small rebellious nation located far from the church capital develop technology to defeat their enemies, etc.). Perhaps this should be noted?
Almost makes me think that Off Armageddon Reef is David Weber's story of the First Empirium (and the Gbaba are the Achuultani). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.127.173.231 (talk) 04:42, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Unlikely, since the human space presence in the Safehold series is depicted as relatively small, probably not enough to be considered an Imperium. Also, Dahak is explicitly said to take place in the near future of our Earth; the multi-millennium history associated with the First through Fourth Imperia did not originate with Earth. Safehold has the space battle with the Gbaba occur with a run-forward-centuries Earth that did not run into a huge extinct space empire. 71.196.245.253 (talk) 05:00, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
