Changes
[edit]Here are my notes as I go along:
- Avoid referring to someone by a definite age in the lead. The reason for this is that Purser won't always be 34, so this information will quickly become dated, especially if we do not have her date of birth. It's better to say something like "when she was X age, she did this" in the article as a whole.
- Be careful of how you present a fact. There are a lot of terms that come across as promotional buzzwords unless they're used very, very carefully. Pioneered is one of these terms, unfortunately.
- I've re-written the information about her being a member of the Squamish tribe, as it's generally assumed that someone would be Native American if they're a tribe member.
I'll post more in a little bit. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:21, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
- I've cleaned the article up. I was able to find information about the pioneering claim, as she's the first to do this within her tribe. I put information about this in a section that specifically covers her work within the tribe and also created a section on her other advocacy. This isn't as pretty, but that's one of the unfortunate things about the NPOV guidelines on Wikipedia - writing in an encyclopedic fashion doesn't lend itself to the lovely, flowing style that you had in the prior version. Thank you for thoroughly explaining your contributions and for the useful tips. I will take note of everything stated above and apply it in my future edits.Elisteele 97 (talk) 06:32, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
Deletion of content by IP Address/New User
[edit]A user(s), last IP address 168.103.158.113 (but could also be Heather.Purser was attempting to delete parts of the BLP and is indicating that they are/know the subject. The user should be aware that Wikipedia does have processes for subjects who feel that they should not be considered for articles such as WP:NOTPUBLICFIGURE, or where their information is unfairly/inaccurately portrayed in WP:BLP. However, the issues should be discussed here first, and not on the Talk Pages of individual editors. If there is no engagement and repeated attempts by users to delete material without agreement here, then the article will be protected. Note, this was also discussed at ANI Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Heather Purser. Britishfinance (talk) 13:55, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- Britishfinance -- For what it's worth, the user may not be an experienced Wikipedia user and may not have any awareness of the talk page or how to follow that process. It might be worthwhile for me to post on her talk page so that she knows. Omanlured (talk) 16:10, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
Please remove personal information
[edit]Hi-- This is Heather Purser. A lot of the information I let be known at that unmedicated, alcohol consumed period of my life is personal and I don't want it out there and especially not all conglomerated in one spot. Please just leave the part about same sex marriage up and let the rest go.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Heather.Purser (talk • contribs) 16:58, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
