History of the Company
[edit]I used to work at Hear Music before it was purchased by starbucks, or was it? i opened this article to find out the history of the store but only found semi-promotional information. if anyone can update with where it started (i thought as an independent store in boston) and how it came to be owned my starbucks, it would really enhance the veracity of this article. Thanks! 192.17.228.20 (talk) 15:11, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I wonder if Ray Charles technically counts as an artist on the label. The old logo is on the CD and the label was still for CDs sold in Starbucks. I also saw an exclusive compilation of Aretha Franklin's Atlantic hits. It's almost been a year already since the buzz surrounding the new Paul McCartney album, promoting Hear as a brand new label. This pertains to the article because of who counts as an artist on the label and how it started.Sposato (talk) 20:52, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree with the first post. Whoever wrote this seems to have very limited knowledge of the company before the Starbucks era. Hear Music was far more than a catalog company in the 90s. In my experience, they were the first store to allow people to listen to music before buying. They had multiple stores. This article needs expansion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.26.91.228 (talk) 14:53, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Updates
[edit]The label are releasing Paul McCartney's new live album, so the label aren't not closed down just yet. He is moving to another. Also, Carly Simon is at legal odds with the label over the lack of promotion of her last album. FotoPhest (talk) 22:36, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
