Low Burden of Disease per capita

According to the WHO's Global burden of disease data 2016 [1], the Maldives has the second lowest burden of disease per capita in the world (after Qatar). Disease burden is counted in that study as disability-adjusted life years lost (DALY), which includes burdens from living with disease (weighing in severity of the disease) and burdens from premature deaths. Per 100'000 inhabitants and year, the Maldives has a disease burden of only 15'781 DALYs. The world average is around 35'800 DALY per 100'000 inhabitants and even for economically wealthy nations typical values range between 20'000 and 30'000 DALY. Compared to other countries, the Maldives have exceptionally low burden of disease. I don't know the causes of this and the statistical certainty of this, but it seems an interesting fact that the Maldives appears to be one of the healthiest places in the world for its inhabitants. --212.25.6.116 (talk) 20:49, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
