Talk:Head register
Change title to head voice
[edit]I would like to suggest that this article be re-entitled head voice for several reasons. First, the term "head register" is not recognized as one of the four major vocal registers in speech pathology. Second, the term "head register" is controversial among vocal pedagogists as many voice professionals argue that "head voice" involves vocal resonation and not registration. The reason for this is entirely physiological. Registration deals with laryngeal function which the use of "head voice" is not related to at all. Head voice is a function of sympathetic resonance, for there is no direct physical contact between the head cavities and the vocal cords. I understand that there are those who do use the term head register, but it is not widely accepted or embraced. Head voice is much more common and not so controvercial. This change would also be in keeping with the main pages on vocal registration and vocal resonation.Nrswanson (talk) 02:07, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Since no one has objected to this move over the last month I am going to go ahead and move this article to head voice.Nrswanson (talk) 17:41, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
