Split out from the New Zealand wine article
[edit]Split from New Zealand wine which is getting too long. See also rationale discussed on New Zealand_Wikipedians' notice board. Jon (talk) 13:32, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- Good work on this, Jon! Keep it up. Schwede66 19:56, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
Name
[edit]I would suggest a better name for this article would be Hawke's Bay wine region, similar to the existing article Central Otago wine region. Other entries in {{Wine regions of New Zealand}} should be adjusted similarly. If you agree with this, you can just move this article. You don't need a formal move proposal as there are no other substantive editors.-gadfium 05:25, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Gadfium:: cheers for the prompt feedback! I have been unsure which pattern to go with: Locality wine region or Locality (wine). Looking at Category:Wine regions of Australia the first predominates, but the second is in use too (e.g. Rioja (wine)), and there's even Locality (wine region), e.g. Okanagan Valley (wine region). It seems WP:Wine has fizzled out, and no guidelines were left behind that I can find. I suppose, going with the notion that NZ wine regions are similar to Australian wine (if they have any legal status they're simply a geographical indication rather than an appelation with elaborate rules and wine-making stipulations as in Europe), so we go with pattern 1 as you suggest? I guess I'm just being timid... anyway it's really nice to get feedback from a NZ admin, thanks! Jon (talk) 22:34, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
