Article expansion
[edit]Are there any objections to my extending the plot summary and/or detailing the omitted and extended scenes? Oni no Akuma (talk) 14:44, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- Expanding the plot summary would be a great thing, but going into detail on deleted scenes would be excessive.--Remurmur (talk) 00:39, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- I feel it would be worthwhile to add in mention of the omitted scenes as they make the story more intelligible, but in light of your comment, I'll try and keep the scene description as brief as possible, for example: "After the defeat at the Flower and Fruit Mountain, General Li interrupts the Emperor's tour of his land, requesting additional troops. The God of the North Star interjects, saying that subterfuge is required again and after a short argument, the Emperor agrees to his plan. A short scene of life under the protection of the Monkey King is cut short by the captured God of the North Star being brought to Sun Kung by monkey soldiers."
- This condenses two omitted scenes totalling approx 8 mins (nearly half of the cuts!). Would this be acceptable or should I stick exactly to what's in the 40th anniversary DVD? Oni no Akuma (talk) 13:10, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- It would be probably better to keep the description on omitted parts, for otherwise the story would become incomplete and hence intelligible. Also a full-length repaired version is now distributed so the description is necessary.Zimmo88 (talk) 16:22, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- I've added the plot summary, but I think it's currently far too long. I'll have another go at slimming it down. Oni no Akuma (talk) 12:42, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Differences between the 40th Anniversary edition and previously broadcast versions
[edit]After digging around on the internet, it appears that the reason for all the cuts and omissions is due to badly damaged film print, thus resulting in the jumpy edits that show up. It'd also explain why all the missing sections are exclusively in the second part of the film. Is this worth mentioning, or would it get removed due to either citation needed/original research tag? Oni no Akuma (talk) 15:30, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Other Monkey films by Wan
[edit]"Two more movies about Sun Wukong were made by the same studio, one called "Monkey King Conquers the Demon" (based on Sun Wukong's confrontation with Baigujing during the Journey to the West itself), the other based on the Ginseng Fruit story." (Written by Omeganian, removed from the article by WikiHannibal (talk) 20:53, 12 March 2014 (UTC))
- Well, it doesn't seem to be by Wan (some cadre changes were made after the Havoc). But the films certainly use the same graphics.Omeganian (talk) 12:25, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
