Name of the song

[edit]

shouldn't it be "Hate that I Love You" without capital letters on "that", instead of "Hate That I Love You"?? Most of the songs in the album page have some of these errors too.

...

[edit]

Rihanna confirmed herself on 106 & Park on BET that "Hate That I Love You" would be the fourth single from her album Good Girl Gone Bad. Therefore I think the page should be re-created and that the article shouldn't be protected from re-creation. Musicman123 20:30 21 July 2007

Yes, i remember her saying that, she said that she would soon be making a video for it with Ne-Yo! Ginascrew 1:28 22 July 2007

Put sources if there are some so that we can make new article for it.BritandBeyonce 07:13, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was surely confirmed, though I can't find any video, it she did confirm it on 106 & Park. Here is the single's track listing:

  1. Rihanna & NeYo - Hate That I Love You ( Radio ) 3:41
  2. Rihanna & NeYo - Hate That I Love You ( Main ) 3:39
  3. Rihanna & NeYo - Hate That I Love You ( K-Klassic Remix ) 7:41
  4. Rihanna & NeYo - Hate That I Love You ( Instrumental ) 3:41

yes. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/ask_bb/index.jsp74.12.121.253 16:38, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i was listening to the radio stations, and this song had heavy airplay —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rm411 (talkcontribs) 03:02, August 22, 2007 (UTC).

Hi, we can actually make an article on this because Billboard has just confirmed that Hate That I Love You is going to be the 3rd single off Good Girl Gone Bad despite the presence of the music video of Don't Stop The Music. It's for airplays only. BritandBeyonce 08:19, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Radio edit

If you want to add information about the radio edit, please make sure you have a reliable source that can prove that information. I have deleted the information about the radio edit because it was self-researched and unsourced. Thank you. Bull Borgnine 20:52, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cover?

[edit]

Is this the official single cover? WTF? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.177.233.14 (talk) 21:27, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think so. --βritand&βeyonce (talkcontribs) 04:13, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Music and Structure Error

[edit]

The song is not written in Db, it is written in Ab. The person who made that error should consider getting their knowledge of pitch rechecked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.166.46.243 (talk) 23:01, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Review

[edit]
Lead
  • "'Hate That I Love You' achieved moderate success worldwide, reaching the top-twenty in more than thirteen countries..." The term "moderate success" is a bit of an opinion I think. For another artist, this could be a major success. I think you could put something like "in comparison to her other singles" or something like that.
  • "It features a Rihanna's and Ne-Yo's characters meeting their respective love interest." --> "It features Rihanna's and Ne-Yo's characters meeting their respective love interests."
  • "An edited version of the video, was made for the Spanglish version of the song" Remove the comma.
  • "Rihanna performed the song together with Ne-Yo and Bisbal" --> "Rihanna performed the song with both Ne-Yo and Bisbal"
  • "...the set lists of Rihanna's three worlwide tours" --> "worldwide"
Background and release
  • "Following her second studio album, A Girl Like Me (2006), Rihanna started working with songwriters and producers in early 2007." I think this would be better as "Rihanna began working with songwriters and producers in early 2007 following the release of her second studio album, A Girl Like Me (2006)."
  • "She spent the week of the 2007 Grammy Awards with singer and label mate Ne-Yo for the follow-up album." --> "She spent the week of the 2007 Grammy Awards with singer and label mate Ne-Yo to work on the follow-up album."
  • "He had co-written her previous single "Unfaithful", and she had vocal lessons with him for the then-upcoming album." --> "He co-wrote her previous single "Unfaithful" and gave her vocal lessons for the then-upcoming album."
  • "'Hate That I Love You' was released as third single from Good Girl Gone Bad, only after "Umbrella" and 'Shut Up and Drive'." --> "'Hate That I Love You" was released as the third single from Good Girl Gone Bad, after "Umbrella" and 'Shut Up and Drive'."
Done all the queries. — Tomica (talk) 23:57, 9 February 2012 (UTC
  • Awesome! I will continue the review.
  • "A seven minutes and forty-one seconds long K-Klassic remix of the song..." I think you could leave out the "and forty-one seconds" part.
  • "On October 29, 2007, a two-track extended play was released via iTunes in certain territories. The extended play features the album version "Hate That I Love You" and the K-Klassic remix of the song." --> These sentences could better be combined as "On October 29, 2007, a two-track extended play featuring the album version of "Hate That I Love You" and the K-Klassic remix of the song was released via iTunes in certain territories."
  • "In late 2007 a new Spanglish version of the song, now featuring vocals by Spanish singer David Bisbal leaked." --> "In late 2007, a new Spanglish version of the song featuring vocals by Spanish singer David Bisbal leaked."
  • "The Spanglish version is also included in the live album by David Bisbal Premonición Live." --> It might be better to just say "This version is also..." because the sentence before it starts with "The Spanglish version"

Composition
  • I think it might be a good idea to divide this section into two paragraphs, starting the second paragraph with the "Multiple critics..." sentence.
  • "The song starts with the lyrics "Ahh, yeah, hey, hey, That's how much I love you."" I'm not sure if this is really notable. If there are quotes from the song in the article, there should be something after the quote discussing the significance of the lyrics.
 DoneTomica (talk) 18:15, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Critical reception
  • I think this section should be divided into two paragraphs as well, starting the second paragraph with "However, Sal Cinquemani from Slant Magazine..." Also, put the sentence "In a review of the album, Norman Mayers from Prefix Magazine noted that the songs on the album which were written by Ne-Yo, "don't necessarily gel" with the other part of the album, which is predominantly club-oriented." in the second paragraph.
 DoneTomica (talk) 18:15, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Chart performance
  • "With that "Hate That I Love You" became Rihanna's fifth top-ten on the chart." --> "This signified Rihanna's fifth top-ten on the chart."
 DoneTomica (talk) 18:15, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Music video
  • "Photographs of the production were leaked on the same day.[48] They featured Rihanna wearing a cream bra and grey skirt." --> Photographs of the production featuring Rihanna wearing a cream bra and grey skirt were leaked on the same day.[48]"
  • "As the songs starts, Rihanna lies in bed and sings. Then, she starts to chanting the lyrics in her hotel room, while Ne-Yo continues walking down the street." --> "As the song starts, Rihanna lies in bed and sings, while Ne-Yo continues walking down the street."
 DoneTomica (talk) 18:15, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Live performances
  • "Rihanna occasionally performed "Hate That I Love You" on award ceremonies and concert tours." --> "Rihanna occasionally performed "Hate That I Love You" at award ceremonies and concert tours."
  • On November 18, 2007, Rihanna performed at 2007 American Music Awards, held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California.[52] She performed a medley which consisted of "Umbrella" and "Hate That I Love You"." --> "On November 18, 2007, Rihanna performed a medley consisting of "Umbrella" and "Hate That I Love You" at 2007 American Music Awards, held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California.[52]"
  • "In 2008, Rihanna performed the Spanglish version of the song, together with David Bisbal, at the sixth series of the Spanish talent show, Operación Triunfo." --> "In 2008, Rihanna performed the Spanglish version of the song with David Bisbal at the sixth series of the Spanish talent show, Operación Triunfo."

References
  • Some sources citing MTV News simply say MTV, be consistent. Also, MTV News should not be italicized, and the publisher is Viacom.
  • They are fixed now.
  • Sources citing newspapers, such as #24 and #28, should be in "cite news" format instead of "cite web".
  • Link Billboard and Prometheus Global Media only the first time they are mentioned.

Done with the review! I am putting it on hold now :) Basilisk4u (talk) 16:56, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
