[edit]That the Turkish government is building a dam for the purpose of destroying an ethnic group has no credibility, in particular for the GAP project which has been in planning for 40 years.
A similar site in the same area was Zeugma (look it up at Wikipedia), which actually came to the worlds attention because of a similar project. Following feeble campaigns and apparent lack of interest, some money was secured to save Roman era mosaics. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.63.64.21 (talk • contribs) diff
They try to destroy the history of the city
[edit]They are trying to make over 70 000 people homeless and destroy a city with thousands year of history behind..
But we all know what this is about like a Turkish Gendarm one time said To catch the fish you must dry up the sea —Preceding unsigned comment added by Retau (talk • contribs) diff
It would be better if you could enlarge the article (which is marked as a stub) with facts instead of writing your own point of view in the talk page. And please show some relevant sources whenever you quote something that is supposedly told by someone else -- C6H12O6 10:05, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
What the heck are you talking about, habitants of the city do want this dam to be built since they will be paid great amount of money for compensation.--BlueEyedCat 05:09, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Kingdom of Hasankeyf
[edit]I find it rather strange that there is no mention of the Kingdom of Hasankeyf in the history section. The rulers of this land were in fact styled as "melik" (arabic for king) and claimed descent from the Ayubids. Around 1514 (battle of Chaldiran) the kingdom joined the Ottoman Empire, as did most of the other Kurdish principalities after the mediation of Idris Bitlisi. It remained a kingdom within the Ottoman Empire until the beginning of the 19th century. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.229.153.139 (talk) 23:22, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Which bridge is on the picture?
[edit]What is the name of the bridge on the picture? When was it built? And does it carry much traffic?

Ilısu Damn Impact section includes opinionated and subjective parts despite utilizing irrelevant parts to support the argument
[edit]"The threat of the Ilisu Dam project " "This was the second victory" "The Ilısu Dam became a “project of honour” for the Turkish State" " However, it is maybe incorrect to call these entirely Turkish as since 2011 a 24.5% of Garanti Bankası belongs to the Basque bank called BBVA."
12,000-year history
[edit]A Guardian article today claims in the headline that the city contains objects which are 12,000 years old. Our article doesn't go back that far. Why the difference? Malick78 (talk) 21:28, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
