Notability?

[edit]

I'm not at all sure that this subject meets the general notability guidelines. He seems to have a personal connection with both publications listed (The Smith, and PresaPress: see here), which gives the impression that these works are largely self-published. I have been unable to find any reliable sources to support the text, apart from the one review I've used (which is probably not good enough). But I do recognise that I may have missed something. Modern poetry can be quite difficult to source and a name like Harry Smith is bound to bring up a huge number of irrelevant hits on Google. I've tagged it for the Poetry Project and will post a message there to ask someone to take a look.--Plad2 (talk) 07:35, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He's notable enough to have been mentioned by name in the Fugs song "Nothing," which was what brought me here to look him up. David Epstein (talk) 15:25, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, I withdraw my prior comment. The Fugs were referring to Harry Everett Smith, who already has his own entry. David Epstein (talk) 18:04, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Smith very much deserves the entry, he helped create the small press movement and discovered many talents, in addition to publishing a lot of quality work. But I agree that the entry needs to be much better documented. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.99.188.234 (talk) 22:33, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
