more work needed
[edit]I cleaned this article up and expanded it considerably in the last couple of days, especially using the Encyclopedia of Virginia article. Because it's a reliable source, I included its reference to his heavy drinking, as well as the October 15, 1881 duel, although I couldn't find reference to it in the three volumes concerning the Readjuster party that I consulted. The wikipedia article concerning the other party, George Douglas Wise, is pretty skeletal, so doesn't include a corresponding mention.Jweaver28 (talk) 14:31, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]His father owned two slaves in the 1830 and 1840 federal censuses… Riddleberger married Emma Belew, one of the daughters of Dr. Peter Belew… who had owned slaves before the conflict.
- It is hard to see any notability in these statements, as he does not appear to have taken a controversial position in the Emancipation debate. They look as though they've been bolted-on by a diversity editor. Valetude (talk) 17:51, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
