They were also accused of murdering a man named Johnson, whose body was found in a river, covered in urine, ripped open and weighted with stones. I'm skeptical of the assertion that a weighted-down body found in a river could be 'covered in urine'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.118.171.219 (talk) 00:07, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Expansion
[edit]Considering the level of importance of this article (which is, unfortunately, like many SK articles) it's surprising the lack of development of this article. Most of the information in the article is poorly written and unsourced, as well as a complete lack of important information on the background of the area at the time, list of victims, and modus operandi. The article also contains way too many images that should be only included when appropriate. In essence, it should really be rewritten and restructured properly to fit Wikipiedia's guidelines and standards. If there is more detailed information on what is already listed in the article then it should be added with proper citations from reliable sources. The amount of information available on the Harpe Brothers would make this a prime candidate for GA and FA status if enough attention was given to it. Let's hope that happens.--Paleface Jack (talk) 15:36, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
Quality of sources.
[edit]Was just watching a video about these guys, feeling dubious I came to check the wikipedia. The part about them being taken in by a native tribe is sourced as...the video I watched on YouTube. The video creator, while entertaining is not a historian as far as I know amd his sources are 16 various links, some of which are google maps, none of which are specifically listed as being a citation for his claim.
Now maybe I'm the fun police, but if there is a specific source on that, should there not be...that source listed? Not just linking a video which it itself doesn't seem to have any sources for this specific claim? It may well, but it does not list fhem in any way or noteate the sources so that can be garnered, which makes me wonder how fair it is to use the video as a source in this article.
