I object to the proposed deletion
[edit]He was a sports director for 26 years in one of the largest markets in the country and won awards. That makes him at least a little more notable than some people.
On the other hand, I admit he doesn't qualify for being a candidate, but as long as he's notable in other areas, there seems to be no problem.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:11, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- Make sure he fulfills the criteria for Wikipedia:Notability (people). The article does not show it so far. Xtzou (Talk) 18:36, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- I did find he was covered in Sports Illustrated.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:00, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- Also, I knew I had read he was on network radio. I was unable to find details beyond just basic information. WSOC-TV conveniently omitted the call letters of Charlotte radio and TV stations he worked for, but since they're ABC I guess it was all right to mention that network, even if back then the station was still NBC. While I admit some more work is needed, I hope the article is safe now. In the event he wins the primary, I'm guessing he becomes notable as a candidate. If he wins, there's no question. I personally don't think he's qualified, don't support his political views, and I didn't really care for him as a sportscaster. I just saw a red link one day and decided he needed an article.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:39, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
No danger of deletion: is he notable?
[edit]I say yes. Only two major-party candidates are running for Congress in North Carolina's 8th district. Add that to his sportscaster career and I think we satisfy notability.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 15:41, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
How old is he? The first section implies a c. 1948 birthdate, but the end says that he's 68 in 2009 when he chose to run for Congress. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.222.186.95 (talk) 02:25, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
