Picture of "tramway"

[edit]

This picture is next to my piece on the iron ore quarry. As this quarry closed down in about 1860 it is highly unlikely these rails were laid down for the quarry. The track is much more likely to be one of the main line railways in the district.. This could have been the Northampton Bedford branch, part of which was last used in 1994 or the Northampton Peterborough line which connected that piece of track with the main line at Northampton Castle Station, although the wikipedia article on that route says it was closed in 1972 (as most of it was.) Can the photographer help as to which? To avoid the reader making a connection with the quarry tramway line, I have altered "tramway" to "railway". I may move the picture or maybe not.. @Spinney Hill Hi yea the railway used to be part of the Bedford–Northampton line (verified by google maps), not the tramway. While it's in Brackmills (technically) I included it here Ridlt016313 (talk) 23:13, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
