Tony Leung
[edit]- There should be an introduction of who the lead actors are playing. And "Tony Leung's character again playing a cop working undercover for the triad" seems a little muddled in its meaning. You should mean "playing a cop working undercover IN the Triads" right? ----WongFeiHung 05:07, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
No plot section
[edit]Is there a reason that the plot of the movie isn't in the article? If not, I'll probably go ahead and write it, or request that someone else does. Dreadnaught 23:43, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, now there's another problem with the plot. Someone wrote an extremely informal plot summary, and I can't seem to edit it back into shape. So unless this is flagged for an admin to come down on it, we're stuck with a plot summary written by a 12-year-old. [nvm. someone else fixed it]

- " develops into an over two hour action extravaganza, with a body count of 307. It is structured around four major action setpieces: the opening teahouse shootout, the warehouse betrayal in the middle, the dock shootout, and the climactic thirty-minute hospital shootout."

Fair use rationale for Image:HB-POSTE.JPG
[edit]Image:HB-POSTE.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Re-write
[edit]I re-wrote this entire article. (Whew!...) I'm sure it's full of copy-edit errors. If anyone has any questions or comments about it. Please discuss it here! Cheers. Andrzejbanas (talk) 05:43, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
GA Review
[edit]- This review is transcluded from Talk:Hard Boiled/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
I have done quite a bit of copyediting on the article, please make sure I haven't altered the meaning of the text anywhere. In particular, you need to be less stingy with commas; this hurts understanding in some cases. There are still some issues I would like you to address:
- Though no requirement, I think an extra picture would benefit the estethic appeal of the article. There is, for instance, a free picture available of John Woo
- Added. Feel free to change the description text. The only reason I didn't use one before is that I worry that I'd start using the same pictures over and over for each John Woo film I start writing about. :) Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:43, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Should not the title be hyphenated? It is on the poster, and this is also how Webster writes it.
- I'm a little torn on this one. I know the poster says Hard-Boiled, but I have two dvds of the film and they both are spelled differently. The Fox Lorber one says "Hard Boiled" while the Dragon Dynasty one says "Hardboiled". On the back of those DVD cases, their descriptions say "Hard Boiled" on both DVDs. So I'm not sure if we should go by poster or by the most recent DVDs. The Tartan DVD also spells it without the dash [1]. It's also spelled without the dash in the book Ten Thousand Bullets. Is it more correct to spell it without the dash? I can't find any cite for any reason for the change. Perhaps it's just a poster misprint, as seen on the The Cat and the Canary article, where the poster says "The Cat and Canary" skipping the "the". I think it's alright how it is. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:43, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- "a video game sequel to the game", do you mean "to the film"?
- Oops you are right. I think I was thinking "they are making the game into a movie" when I wrote that one... Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:43, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- "Pang evacuates the lobby while Chang...", the character of Chang has not been introduced yet.
- Fixed. I think I wrote about her earlier, but left her parts out due to WP:Filmplot. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:43, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- "the first part of a treatment", I don't quite understand "a treatment" here, do you mean "the rewrite"?
- Fixed. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:43, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- "Modern reception", what do you mean by "Modern" here? The movie is pretty modern in itself.
- Uhh...I'm just trying to write not absolutely initial reception. Sometimes views on films change ten years after there release or so. So I'm trying to say it's just that this film was not forgotten by critics ten years down the road. I've re-phrased it slightly. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:43, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- "A second Region 1 release of the film was from Fox Lorber who", I don't understand this sentence, I think this and the next one should be rewritten.
- Eugh. I should learn to read and write I think. ;) I've re-written it now. Anything else Lampman?Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:43, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

- Thanks for the quick response. You're probably right about the title. According to IMDb, Hard-Boiled was the English title under which it was released in Hong Kong, while it was released as Hard Boiled in the UK and USA. It's fine the way it is, I'll promote it now. Reference to Dragon Dynasty
[edit]The addition of See Also and a link to the List of Dragon Dynasty releases page was not done as free advertising, the claim in the undo note. I have no pecuniary interest in Dragon Dynasty or the Weinstein Company, it's corporate parent. Furthermore it is NOT redundant with the link in the article about releases, since the article link goes to the Dragon Dynasty company page which is completely different. The link to the list page was done to provide a link to page containing a concise detailed description, without editorial content, of the DVD and Blu-Ray media content for the Dragon Dynasty releases of Hard Boiled, information not present on the Dragon Dynasty company page. Thanks. Lind j a (talk) 21:50, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Tony vs. Alan
[edit]There's been a bit of edit warring over whether Tony Leung's character is named Tony or Alan. Can anyone show me the sources where he's referred to as Alan? Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:55, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Chaostar (talk) 00:21, 23 February 2014 (UTC) replies:
The IMDB page for the film calls the character Alan. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104684/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 Additionally, the English subtitles of the movie DVD (Dragon Dynasty, Two Disc Ultimate Edition) identify the character as Alan.
- We dont' use IMDb as a source per WP:RS/IMDb. The Dragon Dynasty subtitles use dubtitles, so I wouldn't use them. Adding a source now. Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:34, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
