This article says "In February 2003 Seidel was awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, the most prestigious German research award from the German Research Foundation (DFG). Seidel is the first computer graphics researchers to receive this award. " The website http://www.mpi-inf.mpg.de/~hpseidel/ says "In February 2003 Seidel was awarded the `Leibniz Prize', the most prestigious German research award from the German Research Foundation (DFG).
