Notability
[edit]Does not meet WP:SOLDIER & sig RS coverage not found llink, just passing mentions or non RS.
No de.wiki article exists. Did not hold a significant command and topped out as Major. Successful completion of missions (sorties flown, # of enemy aircraft shot down, etc) is not part of SOLDIER. Please also see a note at MilHist Talk Archives for background behind the redirect. In summary, per the outcome of the discussion at Notability:People on notability of Knight's Cross recipients: permalink, certain recipients were deemed non notable and WP:SOLDIER has been modified accordingly: diff. The articles of these recipients are being redirected to alphabetical lists. K.e.coffman (talk) 02:53, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
B class review
[edit]B class. I don't like to contradict K.e.coffman, and I don't particularly like reviewing articles about Nazi flying aces, but 50+ aerial victories seem significant to me. After all, there are many articles about Allied aces who "only" shot down 5–10 Axis warplanes. The manner of this person's death is very unusual. Djmaschek (talk) 04:27, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- @MisterBee1966: You may want to re-visit the following clause: "Frank's final victory in June occurred on day twenty-nine when he shot down his 44th victim". When I first read this, I saw "final victory" and then wondered why he only shot down 44 planes when the introduction says he shot down 55. The next thing I found strange was "day twenty-nine" until I realized you were talking about 29 June. I also was curious why June was so significant ("final victory in June"). Suggest: "Frank shot down his 44th victim on 29 June" or "Frank's final victory that month occurred on 29 June when he shot down his 44th victim." Djmaschek (talk) 05:01, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Djmaschek: Thank you for your thorough review, the sentence meant to say that it was the last claim in June 1943. I reworded the sentence. Thanks. MisterBee1966 (talk) 05:47, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
