VORP

[edit]

I like the fact that VORP is mentioned, but I'm curious what prompted its inclusion, as most other Wikipedia articles do not mention Sabermetrics. Is this part of some grassroots effort to incorporate more Sabermetrics into Wikipedia? (I would support such a movement). Mickeyg13 06:03, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suspensions

[edit]

I dislike how the Wiki articles on sports players are only presented from the POV most valuable to the image of the player. I would love to see these balanced out with information on suspensions, injuries, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.106.186.6 (talk) 15:56, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

McKeon

[edit]

Initially I put "Who" and "Citation needed" tags with this, but am putting it here in case anyone wants to dig deeper and perhaps post again in the future but with citations: "People say that the coming of 80-year old interim manager Jack McKeon (who served as the Marlins manager from 2003–2005 and led them to a World Series victory in 2003) helped Ramirez improve his stats." 2016 season Ramirez reported early to 2016 spring training with the Red Sox and dismissed his impending positional switch to first base as nothing hard, according to his own words. He then made a smoother transition to his new position than the organization and Boston fans ever imagined. Playing extremely hard every day, Ramírez returned to the infield which was a comfort zone for him. Again, he was in the midst of every play, so that is, in its own way, naturally engaging versus playing left field, which was a foreign and hard place to him.[1] to

2016 season Ramirez reported early to 2016 spring training with the Red Sox and dismissed his impending positional switch to first base as nothing hard. Once the season began, the transition was well received by the press and clubhouse, with praise going to his improved defense and greater comfort in the infield.[2] Hellagrapes (talk) 17:57, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
