Somalia or Ethiopia?
[edit]There has been conflicting information it seems being added and changed in the article on if Barre was born in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia or Kismayo, Lower Juba, Somalia, or if he was or was not at least from Ethiopian ancestry. An edit recently said he may have been from the Ogaden clan of Darod, but never specified if he was born or grew up there and was not cited, so I had to remove it.
Here is what I've gathered: after reading every citation currently in the article, there are zero citations currently that say that he was born or raised or has ancestry in Ethiopia, so re-adding this information must be cited if it is going to be included. It may very well be true, but there has to be an actual citation supporting this. The main citation of the article here is where the information that he was born in Kismayo, Lower Juba, Somalia is from. I also while doing addition research found more and more citations backing up the this statement. I am open to any new information regarding his ancestry as the article needs it, but it must be cited as now we have had four different claims on where this man was born and grew up. - His profile on the official website of the Office of the Prime Minister says he was born in Kismayo Daljir (talk) 18:18, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Daljir: That seems to be the consensus, and that looks like a pretty good citation if anybody had doubts still. Thanks for finding that! Johnson524 (Talk!) 21:36, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
