Right, I will copyedit as I go and post queries below:
The first line built by the Metropolitan Railway (Met) was from Paddington to Smithfield, near London's financial heart in the City, and when this line opened with gas-lit wooden carriages hauled by steam locomotives on 10 January 1863 it was the world's first underground railway. - long sentence - I'd split it after the comma and eliminate the "and"...if you really want, a semicolon would be ok there....
Backed by the Met and the Great Western Railway... - sounds a tad colloquial..."Funded..."?
In the S Stock section, you start using metric with imperial units in brackets, unlike all preceding measurements...any reason or can these be formatted like the others?
Otherwise, looks pretty "Good"......Casliber (talk · contribs) 02:36, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
- I've changed 'Backed' to 'Supported' as the source says ...launched ... with support, but no financial backing..., and I flipped the units in the {{convert}} templates in the S Stock section. Edgepedia (talk) 07:10, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
- I split the sentence with a semi-colon as suggested and discovered a glaring error in the lead; probably down to a misunderstanding of mine, so I corrected it [1]. Thanks for the comments. Edgepedia (talk) 07:35, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
- might wanna link Uxbridge, Watford and Amersham
