[edit]according to Mort Walker's introduction to Outrageously Pogo, published by Fireside in 1985, Fisher's gripes with Al Capp at the National Cartoonists Society started when he claimed that some of Capp's characters in Li'l Abner were stolen from Joe Palooka. Walker makes no mention of wage disputes. This may want to be looked at further when the rest of the article is written.
Image copyright problem with Image:Joepalooka1949.jpg
[edit]The image Image:Joepalooka1949.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Feud with Capp, and those doctored strips
[edit]I've added a quote from Fisher's friend, my father Morris Weiss, to the effect that the bogus strips Fisher disseminated to incriminate Capp were cut to look obscene, but that Fisher did not actually add anything by drawing on the artwork. This contradicts the general characterization of the fraudulent strips. I've not added this to Capp's bio, because though it's interesting, I don't want to appear as if I have an agenda to amend a sad piece of history. Discussion welcome.
