One of five GA reviews I will do this weekend, (if not done by Sunday feel free to delete it and find a new GA reviewer). Thanks Secret account 20:28, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- @Secret: Do you still wish to review this article? I was looking forward to your review. STATic message me! 17:04, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
I will, I got this one after I finish with Matt Kemp (mostly done with that one). Thanks! Secret account 17:07, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Comments by Vic Rattlehead
[edit]- What to unlink: American, recording artist, lead single, guest appearances (intro); vlog, sample, tweeted (body article)
- Per WP:MOS-ALBUM#Personnel ("If citing from Allmusic, do not include composer credits"), the composers in "Personnel" are not necessary
- Suggest to lose the grades from the prose in the "Critical response". For example, drop that "Jon Dolan of Rolling Stone gave the album three out of five stars" since the Rolling Stone grade is already given in the box.
- Generally speaking, the section has way too many quotes from the critics; directly contradicts 1a) from the GA criteria - clear and concise prose.
- "Hall of Fame debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of 72,000 copies in the United States." No need for "US" and "chart" next to Billboard 200, since it's explained in the second clause that the sales were in the US.
- "In its second week the album sold 18,000 more copies" - "more" is extra
- you can include an external link to Discogs or MusicBrainz
These are only my suggestions in order to speed up the reviewing process which took more time than usual. The decision whether the article will pass or fail is up to the main reviewer.--Вик Ретлхед (talk) 23:20, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- @Вик Ретлхед: Thanks for the suggestions, I am getting them done as we speak. However, do you think vlog and sample should still be unlinked? I assume a lot of people may not know what a vlog is and even some people I know that have listed to hip hop for years do not know what a sample is until I explain it. Also I notice many GAs such as MBDTF and GKMC state it as "US Billboard 200 chart", the chart part at least seems necessary, as I am sure not everyone around the world knows what the Billboard 200 is automatically.STATic message me! 01:02, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- On a second thought, let them stay linked. Although they are not directly connected with the theme, they might be new to the first time reader.--Вик Ретлхед (talk) 09:28, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- Just performed the majority of Vic Rattlehead's suggestions, @Secret:, if you have any additional comments or suggestions please feel free to name them, and if it must be placed on hold, please do it, I would be prepared to quickly and efficiently make any needed changes. User:Guerillero is going to finish the review, as my time got overwhelmed and I'm on WikiBreak for the next week. I really wanted to do this review being knowledgeable on current hip-hop as a former hip-hop nightclub management employee and a Big Sean fan in particular. Also a huge fan of your work on Wikipedia (from seeing on my watchlist). But personal life comes first, and Guerillero is a top content contributor and will give the article the real review it sorely needs. Sorry about this, as it is rather unexpected. I'll review another one of your articles instead in the future. Thanks Secret account 05:45, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- @Guerillero: It has been almost a month, are you still interested in reviewing this article? STATic message me! 20:20, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
The nomination was closed as unsuccessful because the reviewer has resigned.--Вик Ретлхед (talk) 16:16, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
