Crimean War locomotives
[edit]Although the information about these locomotives may be in error, it may be worhwhile to keep the discussion in the Wiki article, since the possibly erroneous report is in the public domain, particularly as it is a respected publication. Chevin (talk) 08:41, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Chevin: You may be right, although it seems a pity to occupy so much of the article on Haigh Foundry with this denial of a piece of what is almost certainly fiction. The "Haigh Works List" which Lowe (understandably) took to be authentic, is riddled with errors. Probably some of the earlier details in the article also need correction - I'll have a go later.Hyjack7 (talk) 14:16, 1 April 2009 (UTC).
- I think these were probably road locomotives, i.e. traction engines. Roberttherambler (talk) 00:27, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- Possibly an 8-wheel development of the pedrail locomotive illustrated in Pedrail wheel. Roberttherambler (talk) 00:39, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- Oops, no, the date is too late. Perhaps it was Boydell's "Megatherium war horse", see Dreadnaught wheel. Roberttherambler (talk) 00:45, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
