Relationship with the Keys
[edit]There is an inconsistency in that the article for the Frederick Keys states that that team was the Hagerstown Suns prior to its move in 1990. That doesn't jive with this article. In fact, none of the renames/moves mentioned in the History section even mention the Keys. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Muboshgu (talk • contribs) 02:24, 5 March 2012
The inconsistency has been cleared up. There are actually three iterations of the Suns. The Carolina League Suns played in Hagerstown from 1981 to 1988 and are now the Frederick Keys. The Eastern League Suns played in Hagerstown from 1988 to 1992 and are now the Bowie Baysox. The South Atlantic League Suns are the current team.Mustangeagle (talk) 12:30, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Split off the History section
[edit]I think the History section should be split off to a separate article. As a whole, Hagerstown Suns is 105 kB, which Wikipedia:Splitting and Wikipedia:Article size suggest "Almost certainly should be divided". The History section is more than half the current article--over 8,500 words in article of just over 14,300 words (as counted in Microsoft Word). Wikipedia:Splitting and Wikipedia:Article size suggest that 4,000 to 10,000 words is about the limit of the average concentration span. -- Pemilligan (talk) 22:48, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- I agree that a splitting may be necessary, but I'd recommend something a little different. A lot of the article's size comes from the collapsed tables of All-Stars, league leaders, and records. I suggest moving that content to List of Hagerstown Suns awards, All-Stars, and league leaders (with the addition of any league award winners). This would trim the article by about 20 kB. Similarly, the year-by-year results could be migrated to List of Hagerstown Suns seasons, saving almost 7 kB. Something could also be done with the tables of alumni with MLB experience (11 kB). The information on previous (pre-1981) Hagerstown teams could also be contracted into one summary-style section of one to two paragraphs. That would be an overall reduction of about 40 kB. - I've split the history section to History of the Hagerstown Suns, reducing the article by over 51K kB. I still think an interested editor could make the additional lists I've mentioned above. NatureBoyMD (talk) 15:12, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
I wish it could have been done in a way that kept the page history with Hagerstown Suns rather than moving it to History of the Hagerstown Suns. -- Pemilligan (talk) 19:31, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- Yes. I’m afraid I bungled the move. It’s possible that an admin could properly merge the histories. NatureBoyMD (talk) 19:58, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
