Pictures on Page
[edit]If anyone has a better image that they have taken at a Hadouken! gig then would they want to upload it, one that is a little bit clearer to see! (LemonLemonLemons 15:53, 10 October 2007 (UTC))
Page Deletion
[edit]Not sure about Wikipedia etiquette, so apologies for this poor addition to the edit page. I am suprised to see that the page for HADOUKEN! (the British Indie/New Rave/Grindie music artists) no longer exists. The band is receiving radio play outside of the UK now, and it seems inappropriate that they do not have a page. What are the reasons for this?
- Tell you what, ask these guys....ppftt--SteelersFan UK06 23:07, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm glad it finally got the chance! --Rebirth 22:34, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Members
[edit]The article says they have but two members, and yet in pictures of them they always appear to be 5 or 6 in number? Don't actually know that much about them so won't change it yet. Huzzhuzz 19:35, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Yep, the MySpace lists them as having 5 members, but without last names so cannot correct yet. Huzzhuzz 19:38, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, exactly. --badlydrawnjeff talk 19:50, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Genre
[edit]This is a tricky one. Grime is the main one, obviously (or possibly grindie?), but I wouldn't call them punk rock. And they are definitely associated with the new rave scene, whether they like it or not. 82.69.23.7 18:44, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
these guys fit into the dance punk genre as well69.234.146.73 21:25, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
why is someone putting 'grime' and 'indie rock' is grindie is both of those genres....its like putting it twice69.234.146.96 21:14, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Liquid Lives
[edit]Should we not know by now if Liquid Lives made it into the charts? I've scoured the Top 100 official UK more than once now, and still no mention! Is it just too disliked to chart? Is it not out yet? Confusion reigns... --SteelersFan UK06 07:04, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- #36. Please ignore me. --SteelersFan UK06 23:51, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Hadouken!.jpg
[edit]Image:Hadouken!.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

new material
[edit]Bulletin (18 Sep 2007 16:11)(use that as ref)
"WE ARE RELEASING A MIXTAPE ON NOVEMBER 12.
It's called 'Not Here To Please You' and features these tracks:
Leap Of Faith Bounce Girls Love, Sweat & Beer Dance Lesson You Can't Be That Liquid Lives (Noisia Remix) Tuning In (H! Rerub) Bloc Party Vs Hadouken! Remix Plan B Vs Hadouken! Remix Bolt Action 5 Vs Hadouken! Remix
Despite what you may read on some websites, THIS IS NOT OUR ALBUM, obviously. We are still working on our album and it will be out early next year. We wanted to do something slightly different to your average single release and to get more material out there, so we made this mixtape.
The USB will feature the music as one big mix and the tracks seperately.
More info on artwork and the video for 'Leap Of Faith' etc on the way.
If you want to hear the new tracks, text Zane tonight and ask him to play them. He's a nice bloke, I'm sure he'll be up for it."

Name Etymology
[edit]how do you pronounce the name? i have heard the pronunciations; "ha-dork-en" and also ha-doo-ken": (like the street fighter move) which pronunciation is correct? (in relative to the bands pronunciation) Paladin91 21:20, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
In the Plan-B remix James Smith pronounces it Ha - Dork - En
"It's time for plan b, hadouken" is the line iirc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DavethXCore (talk • contribs) 21:14, 8 November 2007 (UTC) Well, whilst this is true, in a video on Youtube promoting their USB mixtape, "Not Here To Please You", and offering tickets for answering a simple question, James Smith pronounces it "Ha-doo-ken" clearly, so it shows that it can be pronounced either way. Everyone I know uses this pronounciation because we don't see where the "r" sound comes from. Curlyiain (talk) 22:14, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- In Japanese, "ou" represents an extended "o" sound (take the vowel sound in "box" and hold it for longer, or for easier pronunciation you could rhyme it with "boat" instead - HaDOHken). It's not an "oo" sound at all, and isn't pronounced that way in the game, but it is a very common mispronunciation amongst SF fans. Of course, if the band do it too, I guess "Ha-doo-ken" is how the name of the band is pronounced. Philip Reuben (talk) 12:24, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
band origination
[edit]Just a small thing- it says the band are Southern English then says in the information box that they are from Leeds? Which is correct? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Forgery82 (talk • contribs) 11:26, 21 December 2007 (UTC) Well, the story is that they all met whlist studying at Leeds University, apart from Pilau's brother Nick, who, evidently joined the band via his brother, at a time when they lacked a drummer. Nick, and his brother Pilau (or Daniel, whichever name you prefer) actually came from South London, or South of London. That, I'm not entirely sure of, but I don't think that they all originated from Leeds... Curlyiain (talk) 21:47, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
THEY ALL met at Leeds Uni? Nonsenza! Only James or Daniel ever attended there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.97.111.90 (talk) 21:38, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Possible addition to section "Lyrical themes and style"
[edit]"They also incorporate techno into their sound and samples from Nintendo Game Boy sounds"
In their latest song called 'Declaration Of War', there is not only a lot of techno-style noises, but there is also a baseline that sounds very similar to the Victory theme from the Dynasty Warriors games. Considering the band's name, this could very well be the case.
Of course, this is just my opinion. I'd like to know if anyone else thinks the same. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AlexFili (talk • contribs) 10:24, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, do add this content. Hadouken! do use various instruments, and Nintendo samples are used. Davidlive (talk) 15:13, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Leeds University
[edit]Neither James, Daniel, Nick, Chris or Alice ever attended leeds university, they MAY have met there whilet gigging for earlier bands but I doubt it...87.36.25.39 (talk) 09:44, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- This, this, this and this all say that they did go there. Do you know of any sources which say they didn't? --SteelersFanUK06 ReplyOnMine! 20:50, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
That Boy That Girl
[edit]It's from the album "Music for an Accelerated Culture" but the table says N/A. Could someone change this? I don't know how.
- Its due to the fact that the version released as a single is different to that which was released on the album. White Lies, Klaxons both have a similar case. Does this make sense? --SteelersFanUK06 ReplyOnMine! 22:23, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Language
[edit]I'm not a native english speaker but I wonder if " It was in Leeds that Hadouken! began their own record label" is actually "encyclopedic good" phrasing or even decent english. Sounds quite strange to me as f.e. the emphasis seems to be "leeds" instead of the founding of there own label.
I mean it sounds like: "It was in Leeds that Hadouken! began their own record label... and not in Timbuktu"
Furthermore: Do you "begin" a label or do you found/establish/launch it?

Requested move 27 December 2019
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: page moved with the base title redirecting to Hadouken. I will ask for the target page to be unprotected. (closed by non-admin page mover) GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 00:25, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
Hadouken! → Hadouken! (band) – The exclamation point is not enough to disambiguate, since it's also used in the move itself. The current page there is creation protected, but that is pointless now that a page exists for the band. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 18:32, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:SMALLDIFFS. The exclamation point is enough to make the titles non-conflicting. There are properly hatnotes on both articles to avoid confusion. Station1 (talk) 09:16, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- The issue is that "Hadouken!" still conflicts, because it's an exclamation word. It's not a minor difference that sets it apart - "Hadouken" is still the primary topic for "Hadouken!"ZXCVBNM (TALK) 04:31, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
- Unless you're also proposing to move "Hadouken" to "Hadouken!" as a better title for that article, the titles do not conflict. There are ways to disambiguate topics besides titles. Hatnotes are preferable to avoid confusion when each article is at its respective best title. There are rare cases where WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT comes into play, but this does rise to anywhere near that level. Station1 (talk) 07:24, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
- Support improvement that will only help readers. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:57, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- Support - seeing as how the fighter always yells when he preforms it, the exclamation point would be appropriate for it as well. --Gonnym (talk) 11:03, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 22:04, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support per nom, and even retarget Hadouken! to Hadouken as a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT target with a hatnote on Hadouken for Hadouken! (band). Steel1943 (talk) 18:38, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
