Twin termini
[edit]The article says "The station is one of the twin termini at the Derbyshire end of the Manchester-Glossop Line, the other being Glossop"
How can a railway have two termini? 81.156.81.231 09:09, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- Er, most railway lines have two termini! This one, however, has three. See the diagram in this article and also the explanation. While Manchester Piccadilly is clearly the western terminus, it is only during the off peak service that Hadfield is the clear eastern terminus, with only two sides of the triangle at Dinting being used and Glossop being the penultimate station for eastbound services, and the first stop for westbound services. During rush hours all three sides of Dinting triangle are used, with morning eastbound services travelling direct from Dinting to Hadfield, missing out Glossop, and with evening westbound services travelling direct from Hadfield to Dinting, missing out Glossop. The reason for this is to provide a three trains per hour service by missing out alternate reversals at Glossop. 83.104.249.240 (talk) 00:54, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
