Is the Hack computer a von Neumann architecture?
[edit]The initial paragraph states the Hack computer is “patterned according to the von Neumann architecture model”. According to the Von Neumann architecture page, this is an architecture where “an instruction fetch and a data operation cannot occur at the same time (since they share a common bus)”.
In the article, the Hack computer is shown with separate buses for instructions and data, and an instruction fetch and data operation can occur at the same time. This is either contradictory or needs further explanation. Corvus (talk) 23:59, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
Came here with the same question. Book "The Elements of Computing Systems: Building a Modern Computer from First Principles" states couple of times that it's von Neumann architecture, but description matches Harvard architecture. Maybe I don't understand what that two architecture are about. Maybe there is answer somewhere on some forums related to Nand2Tetris course. --Bunyk (talk) 19:40, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
