USENET groups as abbreviations

[edit]

203.166.253.115 just added "hk.rec.travel, an USETNET newsgroup about traveling". Why is this a reasonable entry? There are thousands of USENET groups, but as far as I know they are not generally referred to by acronyms, and not generally included in Wikipedia abbreviation lists. Please give reasons why this one should be included here. Dark Formal 22:11, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, no arguments given for keeping it so I deleted it. Dark Formal 18:56, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Split in to two topics plus "other"

[edit]

Why was this split done? Is this done for other abbreviations in wikipedia? Dark Formal (talk) 21:09, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The MOS says that in the case of longer dab lists, the entries can be broken up by subject area. It looks fine to me, do you think so? Photouploaded (talk) 21:50, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That is appropriate for long lists, like SAS, where the whole list doesn't fit on a typical browser page. But lists of the length of HRT do not seem to be typically broken up in this way. See for example TAT or NTP. For HRT I think it looks odd because there are so few entries per section. Dark Formal (talk) 22:55, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
