Buccaneer
[edit]I have removed the item about the ship sinking the tug Buccaneer. It was, in fact, her sister ship Saintes that sunk the tug whilst trialling a new destroyer gun turret.
- No that was St James, not Saintes. Sunk on 25 August 1946, not in 1947 as you had on Saintes's page. Benea (talk) 17:54, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Pennant change date D65 to R65?
[edit]Looking at the photo of HMS St James R65 10 July 1946, and the 3 photos of HMS St James D65 from November 1948 to June 1953 do we know when the pennant was changed? JRPG (talk) 10:48, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late comment, rt has been distracting. In short I can't say for certain, Boniface's Battle Class Destroyers, though extremely comprehensive in most regards, makes no mention of the class's pennant numbers. I would therefore assume that it happened in the general standardisation of pennant numbers in 1948, which fits with the dates of the pictures of her from battleships-cruisers.net. Benea (talk) 17:48, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for this Benea. I was mildly astonished to see the pennant number on the article contradicting the picture -casting doubt the reliability of the article.
- Also to User 212.139.253.150 who seems to be having a very busy June. JRPG (talk) 18:57, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
