Ordered for the Chinese Government?
[edit]One of the references states that she was ordered for the Chinese Government to serve as part of Sherard Osborn's Vampire Fleet. This doesn't bear scrutiny; the three vessels involved were HMS Mohawk (1856), HMS Jasper (1857) and HMS Africa (1862) (see W L Clowes on the Taiping rebellion 1860 - 1862). According to Winfield (Winfield, R.; Lyon, D. (2004). The Sail and Steam Navy List: All the Ships of the Royal Navy 1815–1889. London: Chatham Publishing. ISBN 978-1-86176-032-6. OCLC 52620555.), Mullett was ordered by the Admiralty on 14 June 1859. Shem (talk) 11:54, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
