According to this she was launched in July 1810, not August. Which of the dates is correct? Drutt (talk) 15:16, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Which “HMS Impregnable”?
[edit]Informative article. It does confront the difficulty of writing about a ship (HMS Impregnable - 1810) and then an establishment (HMS Impregnable – the training establishment) served by a number of different ships and buildings of originally other names that then changed their names to HMS Impregnable. This is unavoidably a little confusing. The reader has to think carefully which “HMS Impregnable” is being referred to. The information on which physical ship or shore establishment taking what name is mainly there but I can't entirely disentangled the story from the article. For instance: on 22 September 1891 which ship was re-named HMS Caledonia? The old Impregnable renamed HMS Kent or HMS Bulwark, the former HMS Howe? I am sure it could be reworded to make this rather convoluted renaming clearer. Perhaps the original author might oblige? May I suggest the article tracks each physical ship including its own story of being renamed rather that tracking a name and describing the various physical ships associated with the name. It would seem to me that the worst approach would be to try to mix the two. PeterColdridge (talk) 12:22, 23 December 2015 (UTC)
