Question over numbers
[edit]Have there really been 16 ships with this name ? There seem to be large gaps in the timeline. Can someone fill them in please ? The list implies that the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th were built between 1863 and 1902, at the rate of just under one every seven years. I'm sure this is possible, but it seems unlikely. What about the 14th one , which presumably existed sometime between 1914 (start of WW1 in which No 13 served) and 1924 (year in which 16th was laid down) ? GeraldH 11:17, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- No there have been eleven, as listed in Colledge. I'm not sure where the Navy thinks these other ships have come from, as as you point out there would either have been an unusual amount of overlap or an unusually quick turnover. I've updated the list to include all the ships that actually existed and their details. Benea (talk) 20:19, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
