1805 Rebuilding
[edit]I wonder whether it would be more accurate to describe her as being "dismantled" rather than "broken up", which feels to me more destructive? But I have no sources to hand. Davidships (talk) 19:12, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
Dick Guineaman
[edit]The First Incarnation section here refers to Clyde recapturing a ship, the Dick Guineaman of Liverpool in 1800. The name, I believe, should be “Dick Guineaman”; a guineaman was a type of ship and it was usual to add the ship type to the name in that period (cf the Anna, Pink, which sailed with Anson). The reference given (from the Gazette), lists Clyde's other captures in the same way (with or without the comma); ie
- Deux Amis Spanish Letter of Marque
- El Beloz, Spanish Packet
- ''La Rose French Schooner
- La Magicienne French Schooner
So I have changed it. I trust everyone is OK with that. Xyl 54 (talk) 11:44, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
