Wooden walls
[edit]Is the expression "wooden walls" actually applied to these small minesweepers? I only heard of it in relation major warships of the age of sail (eg HMS Victory), as "Britain's best bulwarks are her wooden walls." (Henry Green, 1773) Davidships (talk) 22:54, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- Only colloquially, and not commonly. However, the vessels were constructed of wood and there are now none in service with the Royal Navy. 85.255.232.225 (talk) 06:06, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. So if only colloquially we should not use it here, unless attributed directly to a WP:RS? Davidships (talk) 00:26, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
