I was concerned that Mr. Brands on cspan was conveying absolutely wrong facts about Watergate:
1. Nixon did’t overreact to defeat McGovern; the dirty tricks were to get him nominated instead of Kennedy or Muskie.
2. Yes, it was the coverup, but Nixon couldn’t come clean because the dirty tricks and other crimes would have come out; he would surely have been impeached.
There are more, but the fact a historian could get basic facts so wrong, at this late date, should be pointed out.
I have always respected him for his presentations, but I was very surprised by this, given he writes books with great detail, and these are basics facts about an important subject.
P.S. I did submit an inquiry about this, but so far, did not hear back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.181.192.29 (talk) 22:24, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
